What is FIK? |

FIK is a private scientific-technological research initiative aimed at ageing and disability. This project, promoted by Fatronik Research Centre, is backed by the following shareholders: Kutxa, Grupo Ormazábal, Políclínica de Gipuzkoa, Salengoa, SAPA, Susmendi, El Diario Vasco, Banco Guipuzcoano, Gestión de Capital Riesgo, IMQ and Ibermática as well as having the support of the Provincial Government of Gipuzkoa. FIK is a research programme that uses science and technology to support and complement the general policies of advanced societies: it is an instrument intended to save society. FIK is being built upon two important technological pillars: the first is ICTs and the second Biomedical Engineering which, in turn, combine with two scientific fields:gerontology and neurosciences. Fatronik will be in charge of the research. The Project will also have a team of international scientific experts of recognised prestige who will supervise the research lines. FIK is a new way to join the business world with society: a new form of business collaboration which seeks exploitable results based on investment in research.
